Bogart - Gary Lew Anderson, 67, died April 3, 2009.Gary grew up in Loup City, Neb. He was the son of Mildred Meyer of Columbus and the late Bernard Irving Anderson. He was a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, received his Master's degree from New Mexico State University and received his Ph.D. in Physiology from Indiana University. Gary taught for many years at Georgia Tech and later was employed as a Research Scientist at the University of Georgia. He retired in 2004.Gary had an interest in landscaping and architecture and enjoyed restoring his home in Bogart. He had an abiding love of nature and enjoyed fishing, camping and canoeing. He was also a talented artist.Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Lisa Anderson; sister, Sandra Peterson; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Tom) Litkowski and Margaret (Gerhard) Schultheiss; nieces, Kristin Dionne, Kara Asmus, Sandra Miller, Christine Schultheiss, Patricia and Ellen Litkowski; and great-nephews, Alex and Austin Asmus. Gary will be greatly missed by family and many friends.Memorial services will be announced at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice or an environmental cause of your choice.Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
