Gail Carter, age 69, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away June 4, 2008. She was born on May 26, 1939, in Mississippi to Pete and Ruth Cook Hinote. Mrs. Carter was a resident of DeFuniak Springs. She was Methodist by faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was very active in the First United Methodist Church Women's Group. She graduated from Walton High School and also from Chipola Junior College, where she received her associates degree and she also attended Troy State University. She worked as an airport gift shop manager for many years for the same company, Paradies Shops. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and serving in her church and spending time with her many friends and cousins. She also enjoyed providing transportation for her elderly friends. Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her father and mother. Mrs. Carter is survived by her brother, Lloyd H. Hinote and wife Rene of Monroe, N.C.; two nieces, Lorrie Arcelisi and husband Mark, and Dawn Schustrman; one nephew, Lloyd H. Hinote Jr. and wife Jennifer; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be conducted from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob West officiating. Floral arrangements are being accepted, or donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 9, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
