CARTER, GLORIA JEAN, 72, died April 15, 2004. A lifelong Floridian born on January 15, 1932 in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL to Owen and Rosa Lee (Burke) Conrad. She moved to Riverhaven, Homosassa, FL from Orlando in 1986. A noted local pastel artist who specialized in wildlife, she was often called upon to do personalized pictures including pets and loved ones. Many residents of the Homosassa area are fortunate to have one of Gloria's works in their homes. She started the "Adopt a Shore" program to clean up local waterways. Served on Board of Directors for the Shadwoods Homeowners Association and on the Board of Directors of the Riverhaven Community Club. She leaves behind many devoted friends and neighbors who admired her wonderful personality and artistic talent. Preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carter. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Kecia of Orlando and grandchildren Cerissa and Croix. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday, April 26 at the Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs, with Chaplain Jonathan Beard officiating. Friends will be received from 6-8PM on Sunday, April 25 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kiwanis Club, Boys and Girls Club, Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Wildlife Federation or to the Hospice of Citrus County.
