G. (Gladys) Elizabeth Carpenter Titusville Gladys Elizabeth Carpenter, known to friends and family as "Betty", died peacefully in her home Thursday, August 12, 2010. Though she was born in Savanna, Illinois by Croatian immigrant par ents, Michael and Barbara Collins in 1922, she and her predeceased husband, Thomas Patrick Carpenter (aka Tom or Pat), were long time residents of Titusville. Betty greatly enjoyed ev ery opportunity to play golf whenever and wherever she could. After only taking up the game at the young age of 70 and joining the womens golf league at La Cita Country Club, she was awarded the opportunity to travel and play on some of the most elite courses within Florida. Both Betty and Tom were also very active members within St. Teresas Catholic Church, performing duties prior to and after every morning mass, as well as assisting in the Parrishs Annual Bishops Appeal. Betty is survived by her sister, Mildred (Jimmie) Shores, brothers, Bob Collins and Bill Collins, and her loving children, Mike, Cindy, John, Kim and Jim. She was also blessed to enjoy the births of her 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be on Monday evening, August 16th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Teresas Catholic Church in Titusville at 10 am on Tuesday, August 17th, followed by a procession to Bushnell National Veterans Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 63 years.
