George William (Bill) Heath, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born on October 12, 1931. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Upon completion of his service, he graduated from Siena College and started his career at General Electric as a manager of computer operations. After 35 years at G.E, Bill retired and worked at New York State Tax and Finance for 10 years. Bill was a former member of St. Lucy's Church in Altamont and was a parishioner at Christ the King Church in Guilderland, where he served as a eucharistic minister and was part of the "Lunch Bunch Group." He also served communion to the residents of Our Lady of Mercy nursing home. Bill was also a lifetime member of the Guilderland Center Fire Department. Bill was predeceased in 2008 by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy; and two brothers. He is survived by his children, Bill of Albany, Terry (Sharon) of North Carolina, Tom (Dawn) of California, Bob of California, Bruce of North Carolina, Karen (Jim Miller) of Guilderland, and John (Karen) of Guilderland; his four grandchildren, Kyle, Danielle, Kiera and William; his brother, Ray; and sister, Peggy Drummond; and many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. The family would like to express our thanks to Dr. Jonathan Desantis, Dr. Bruce Coplin and Dr. Geoff Serfilippi, who cared for Dad; and his nursing staff, Rochelle, Kathy, Natasha and Tiffany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Guilderland. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam.
