Frederick Lee Casey of Panama City, Fla., passed away March 8, 2014 at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center. Mr. Casey was born Nov. 8, 1930 in Slocomb, Ala., to Fred Lee Casey & Lois Grice Casey. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Air Force. He opened Boyette and Casey Hardware in 1958. He was a deacon and trustee emeritus at the First Baptist Church of Panama City. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia B. Casey, a daughter Mary Louise Casey and a brother Lemuel A. Casey. He is survived by a son, Lee Casey (Julie); grandsons, Shelby and Garrett; his daughter Ericka Soto (Oscar); and grandchildren Brooke and Brandon Soto; and his sister Barbara Helton of Canton, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Slocomb, Ala. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grover Holland Sunday School Class and the Deacons and Trustees of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402 in memory of Fred Casey.
