Madison - Fred Lanier Johnson, 84 of Madison died December 26, 2007. Mr. Johnson was born August 12, 1923 in Newton County to Newt and Martha Canup Johnson. He later married Marguerite Mobley and moved to Morgan County in 1951.Mr. Johnson was retired from the Farm Bureau and also as a barber. Many will remember Mr. Johnson also as a restaurant manager. He enjoyed many civic activities, including the Lion's Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Mr. Johnson was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Madison. He was a Primetimer and also a member of The Supper Club. Mr. Johnson was a United States Army veteran having served in Korea and later in the Army National Guard.Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Marguerite Mobley Johnson and their three sons, Mike Johnson & Emily of Roswell, Guy Johnson & Sheri of Bishop and Chris Johnson & Shari of Dublin. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Steven, Jake, Trent, Cole, Erin, Jonathan and Aimee Johnson.The family received friends Thursday from 6 until 8 pm at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Friday at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church of Madison with Dr. Kirk Bozeman and Dr. Layne Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at Madison Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.A.E. Carter Funeral Home of Madison, had charge of arrangements.
