DORCHESTER, Mass. -- Franklin Charles Davis, 59, of Dorchester, Mass., died unexpectedly on Monday, March 7, 2011 in Boston.He was born August 10, 1951 in Waterville, the son of Charles Perley and Mary (Ackroyd) Davis. He attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1969. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.He was employed as a maintenance technician at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, where he was much loved. He was mechanically inclined and was skilled in carpentry. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing his banjo. He also enjoyed spending time each August at the family camp in Plymouth, which he and his dad built when he was a teenager.He is survived by his mother of Leesburg, Fla.; sister Jean Davis Zarate and her husband, George, of South Portland; brother Richard Parker Davis and his wife, Shelly, of Wilton; and brother Kenneth James Davis and his wife, Lori, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many good friends in the Boston area. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Perley Davis of Leesburg, Fla.A memorial service will be held at the James J. Rice Amvets Post, 33 Romsey St., Dorchester, Mass., on Saturday, March 19th, from 1 to 5 p.m. Donations in Franklin's memory may be made to the James J. Rice Amvets Post, 33 Romsey St., Dorchester, MA 02125.Interment will take place in the Pittsfield, Maine Village Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the James A.
