NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.- Funeral Services for Mr. Frank Edwin Smith, 87, of Bama Avenue, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest July 17, 2008 will be conducted Monday morning at 10 o'clock from Central Church of Christ. Minister Scott Patterson officiating. Interment in Sunset Memory Gardens with Veterans Honors. Mr. Smith was a native of Winfield, Alabama, having made North Augusta his home for the past 47 years. He was a faithful and devoted servant all of his life to the Church of Christ where he was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Mr. Smith was a Trustee who was instrumental in establishing Churches of Christ in New Ellenton and Aiken and volunteered in caring for the grounds and Church facilities for the Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II having served in the CB's, retired from E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant as a foreman of roads and bridges with 32 years of service, an avid fan and supporter of University of Alabama football team and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Smith was the son of the late Henry and Mary Randolph Smith and was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Corrine Johnson Smith; a son, John Edwin Smith, North Augusta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Sonny Gay, Augusta and Rebecca and Bill Price, North Augusta; four grandchildren, A. Judson "Trey" Gay, III and his wife Elisabeth, Todd Edwin Gay and his wife Melanie, Caroline Corrine Price and Rhianna Smith Felder; three great-grandchildren, A. Judson Gay, IV, Luke Edwin Gay and Ella Diane Gay. Pallbearers will be Sam Hubbert, George Hubbert, Zack Hubbert, Bill Benton, John Reed and Truman Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5:30.
