Francis P. McGowan, 83, New Berlin, Ill., and formerly of Sarasota, died Feb. 24, 2005. He was born March 13, 1921, in Nichols, Iowa. He was an electrical en gineer who worked for Cook Electric, Sangamo Electric and Schlumberger Electric. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Abe Lincoln Gun Club and St. Martha's Catholic Church in Sarasota. Survivors include daughters Jean Rabe of Louisburg, Mo., Mary Carroll of Petersburg, Ill., and Carol of New Berlin; sons Frank of New Berlin and Michael of Springfield, Ill.; a sister, Josephine Hart of Muscatine, Iowa; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at St. Martha's Catholic Church. The Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Palms Memorial Park. Robarts Funeral Home, Sarasota, is in charge.
