HARRIS, Frances Turner Age 97, passed away Sunday, May 4th, 2008. Master Level Gardener, community activist and volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Claude and Attie Hemby Turner from Waverly, TN; her brothers, William C. Turner, Jr., Woodrow Turner; her sisters, Elaine Turner Norton, Dixie Turner Gurley; and her beloved husband of 60 years, George Bryson Harris of McKenzie, TN. She graduated from Grove High School in Paris, TN and attended Murray State Teachers College, and taught piano until she married George and they moved to Williamson County where she remained for 60 years, making their home at Lazy Hills Farm on Holly Tree Gap for 52 years, before moving to Morningside where she lived independently and actively under February, 2008. Frances was a 37 year active member of The Old Glory Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Frances initiated the concept of The Endowment Trust for the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities remarking "you can't preserve anything if you don't have money", and later, seeing an even greater need, helped establish the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., Endowment Trust Fund. She was one of the founders of the Brentwood Garden Club and was still an active member at her death. She was a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., District II, The Tennessee Council of Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges, District II, and an Emeritus-Master Judge Level 5. She also held membership in The Ladies Hermitage Association, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Fine Arts Center, and the Frist Museum. Survive by her son, John T. Harris (Barb) of Longview, TX; daughter, Carole H. Sharp (Ken) of Salt Lake City, UT; grandson, Tyree Brown Harris (Robin) of Texarkanna, TX; granddaughter, Laura Sharp Dommes (Kevin) of Lafayette, CA; grandson, Benjamin Lewis Sharp of Salt Lake City, UT; and granddaughter, Mary Irene Harris Berthelot (Marc) of Dallas, TX; and her pride and joy, her great-grandchildren, Bryson Perry Harris, Stella Frances Sharp, Jake George Dommes, John Pershing Berthelot, Cannon Turner Harris, Graham David Dommes, who all called her GiGi. Graveside service in McKenzie, TN at Shiloh Cemetery, 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Memorial Service at 4th Avenue Church of Christ, Franklin, TN will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 with visitation with the family starting at 10 a.m., there at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. Endowment Trust Fund, c/o Mary Jo Dougherty, P. O.
