Frances Louise Allen Smith, 89, formerly of 130 Batesview Drive, died Monday, January 8, 2007. Born in Royston, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William Mose and Lucy Gaines Allen. Mrs. Smith was retired from Meyers-Arnold, and was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Smith Cole of New York City; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall Lee and Debbie Smith of Greenville; four grandchildren, Katherine Brandt Cole and Christina Blair Cole, both of New York City, Christopher Matthew Smith of Columbia, and Gaines Ryan Smith of Simpsonville; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Newell Hartman and Noah Gaines Smith, both of Simpsonville; a brother, William Allen of Greenville; and two sisters, Mary Scarboro of Greenville and Bessie Shealey of Franklin Springs, Ga. She was preceded in death by a son, Gaines Allen Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville County Museum of Art, Center for Museum Education, 420 College Street, Greenville, SC 29601. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
