Avis de décès de Frances Olive Fowler

FOWLER, Frances Olive September 20, 1919 - August 27, 2015 With great sadness, and also gratitude for her long and happy life, her family announces that Frances died peacefully at home with us by her side. Mom was born to homesteaders John and Emma Hughes and grew up on the farm near Shaunavon, Sask. Always seeing the humorous and the positive side of every situation, Mom relived many vivid stories of her childhood. She told of surviving polio and being severely kicked in the head by a horse. These early years made an impression and prepared her for a life of purpose and courage. Mom studied at Providence School of Nursing in Moose Jaw and had a long and varied career. Her nursing career included time at Shaunavon Hosp. and RJH in Victoria. Family became Fran''s main focus, however, once she met and married her beloved husband John Lewis. They made a wonderful life and raised four children together. Johns'' career took them many places in Western Canada and Mom practised nursing and made good friends wherever she lived. She was always keenly interested in the state of the world with all its'' changes in her lifetime and also in the progress of the lives of her children, grandchildren and friends. We always felt loved and accepted by her no matter what. Mom always loved good food, and to cook and tell stories and could usually be found in her kitchen doing both. Mom was famous in grandchild circles for her Mac''n''Cheese which none of us can seem to replicate. Mom was a crack bridge player in earlier years and continued playing with friends until recently despite low vision which made it difficult to see the cards. She continued to read the bridge section in the paper every day. She kept her great sense of humour. Mom was generous, giving to many charities especially those which help children. We''ll always be inspired by her. We''ll miss our beautiful Mom deeply as she was the heart of our family. Fran will also be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her at Rosebank Garden in Victoria where she lived the past eight years. Fran is predeceased by husband John Lewis Fowler (2010). She is survived by brothers Jack Hughes of Shaunavon Sask and William (Bill) Hughes of Trail BC, children Sean Fowler (Geri) of Ont., Kathi Amson (Brad) of Victoria, Gail Mussell (Patrick) of Salt Spring Island, and Garth Fowler (Bonnie) of Regina. She left 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren all of whom she was extremely proud of and who brought her so much joy. No service as per Fran''s request. Ashes will be placed alongside John''s in Shaunavon Cemetery at a later date.
