Frances Kay Fleming, 85, of 15 Eisenhower Drive, widow of Joe Isam Fleming, died Monday, March 5, 2007. Born in Franklin County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Floyd Lewis and Naomi Welborn Kay. Mrs. Fleming was a retired alteration seamstress, and a member of River Road Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Max Myers, Martha Jo and Bill Pritchard, and Linda Gail and Jim Hoyle; a son, Virgil I. Fleming, all of the Greenville area; two brothers, James Kay and Floyd Kay Jr.; four sisters, Nancy Paxton, Nellie Hembree, Jean Campbell and Shirley Martin, all from the Hartwell area; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Among the many surviving nieces and nephews are two special nephews, Billy Barton of Elberton, Ga., and Bruce Barton of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry R. Fleming; two brothers, Luther Kay and Edward Kay; and a sister, Leila Vaughan. Mother and son were a devoted team that took care of each other for many years. Flowers accepted, or memorials may be made to Greenville Disabilities and Special Needs, 227 Enoree Circle, Greer, SC 29650. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2007, at 1:30 p.m., in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with visitation prior, from 12 to 1:15 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes.
