RAYMOND - Frances E. Smith, 87, died on April 5, 2015, at the Colonial Poplin Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Fremont, after a period of declining health. She was born on Feb. 8, 1928, in Deerfield, the daughter of the late John W. Taylor and Lottie Pearl (Denyou) Merrick. A longtime resident of Raymond, she was a member of the Raymond Historical Society, the Ray-Fre Senior Center, and worked for more than 20 years as a postal clerk at the post office in town. She was also very active in the Raymond United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher, financial secretary, and former treasurer and past president of the United Methodist Women. She was also a dedicated volunteer and supporter of the March of Dimes. Frances was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Richard C. Smith who died in 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Debra J. Smith of Raymond, and Nancy E. Simone and her husband, David, of Raymond; her son Allen R. Smith and his wife, Sue, of Raymond; four grandchildren, Rhonda A. Smith-Fitzherbert and Georgina R., Nicholas J. and Stacy J. Simone; two great-grandchildren, Emma T. Simone and Addison A. Marcotte; her brother Paul Taylor and his wife, Lorraine; her sisters Joyce Brown and Glenda Michalchuk; and sister-in-law Grace Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews. . services: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond, NH. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Raymond United Methodist Church, 51 Main St., Raymond. Burial will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery in Raymond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Raymond United Methodist Church, 51 Main St., Raymond, NH, 03077.
