Frances Barrow won her battle against severe dementia on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013. Frances Barck was born May 13, 1921, in Bullock County, Ala., to Doc Alford and Johnnie Lucille Odom. At the age of 21, on Sept. 1, 1942, she married a young man in the U.S. Army Air Corps., by the name of Lewey Barrow and she became a military bride. Over the next 21 years, she would travel with him to places all over the United States as well as to England, all the while supporting him through peacetime, the Korean War and World War II. In 1963, Lewey retired from the Air Force in Anchorage, Alaska, and they made their way back to his hometown in the Fort Walton Beach area where they would live for the next 6 years. In 1969, Lewey became sick and his health issues required them to move to a cooler climate and a new way of life. They bought a farm and moved to Cullman, Ala., where they would spend the next 19 years. It was during their time in Cullman that Frances became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1988 a second retirement came about and they once again moved back to Florida, this time in the Mary Esther area. Frances continued to attend her church, now in Navarre, and to her exceeding joy was eventually joined by her husband. He proposed to her again and this time they were married and sealed for all time and eternity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mesa, Ariz., temple. In 1997, Lewey passed away and her health began to fail. In 2004, she was diagnosed with several small strokes and the beginning of the dementia which she battled until her passing.Frances is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Davis Freese and her husband, Ralph, of Navarre, Fla., Mary Bond, of Mesa, Ariz., and Fran Rodriguez and her husband, Michael, of Trussville, Ala.; brothers, James Barck and his wife, Penny, of Cullman, Ala., Gene Barck and his wife, Pat, of Cullman, Ala., and John Barck and his wife, Jannie, of Ashland, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Dewey Barrow and his wife, Lois, of Crestview, Fla.; sisters, Linda Teichmiller of Cullman, Ala., Wildred Fergus of Daily City, Calif., and Jewel Ozbirn of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewey Barrow; sons-in-law, H. Kenneth Bond and Doug Davis; brothers-in-law, Richard Teichmiller, Clarence Fergus, Paul Engle, Robert Bisesi and James Ozbirn; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Bisesi and Lois Buzan.A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1751 Sea Lark Landing, Navarre, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
