FLOYD WAYLAND SMITH, 62 Superior Coatings BARTOW - Floyd Wayland Smith, 62, of Bartow, died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at his home of heart failure. He was born January 13, 1944 in Bartow to Ralph W. and Juanita (Moore) Smith. Wayland was previously employed with Superior Coatings of Mulberry where he worked for over 15 years. He was a Vietnam Marine Corp Veteran and a charter member of the Marine Corp League, Major William Hendrix Det #1019 of Lakeland. Wayland was also an avid bass fisherman and NASCAR fan. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Fike. Survivors include his sister, Linda Mercer of Lakeland; a daughter, Jeannie Smith of Bartow; six brothers, Chester "Skip" Smith of Mulberry, Michael Smith of Apollo Beach, Gregory Smith of Bartow, Jeff Smith of Ft. Meade, Timothy Smith of Lakeland and Martin Smith of Apollo Beach. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, December 8, 2006 at the funeral home chapel. Graveside Military Honors will be given that same day at 2pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes Northside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
