Deacon Floyd Smith - SAVANNAH - Deacon Floyd Smith, 93, entered eternal rest on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Liberty County, GA and was raised on Cullen Island. He was a member of Sunbury Missionary Baptist Church for over 55 years where he served on the Deacon Board Ministry and was the Assistant Chairmen for over 18 years. He was retired from Chatham Steel as a crane operator. He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary M. Chipp Smith, a daughter; Elizabeth Smith, and a brother; James Mason. He is survived by three daughters; Gussie L. Lockett, Mary Ann Smith, Carolyn S. Young, all of Savannah, GA, one son; Carlton "Syke" Anderson of Texas, two sisters-in-law; Mary Chipp of Midway, GA, Mary Mason of Savannah, GA, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
