COOKEVILLE, TENN. - Mr. Floyd Francis Smith, 78, died Wednesday (September 8, 2010) at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.Visitation was held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday (September 10) at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Cookeville, Tenn. The Funeral Mass was celebrated from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday (September 11) at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Reed Mungovan officiated. Cremation will follow at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Building Fund, 421 North Washington Ave., Cookeville, TN 38501. He was born July 30, 1932 in Geneva to the late Floyd Alonzo and Ella Mae Francis Smith.Mr. Smith earned his Finance degree in 1955 from Hobart College in Geneva. He had a 35 year career in broadcasting, before retirement. He had a second career as Executive Director for the Osteopathic Medical Associations in New Mexico, Nevada and Utah. The New Mexico Osteopathic Medical Association will dedicate their 30th Annual New Mexico Medical Symposium, held during the New Mexico Balloon Festival in October 2010, to his memory.He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.He loved to sing and was a member of the Cookeville Mastersingers. He performed with them in France at the Notre Dame Cathedral.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dr. Roberta (Bobbie) Flood Smith (whom he married January 25, 1958 in Rochester); daughters, Sharon (Paul) Smith Boyd of Denver, Colo., Linda (Scott) Smith McQuiston of Cookeville, Tenn. and Debbie Smith Spencer of Denver, Colo.; son, Alan Francis (Tammy) Smith Woodbridge, Va.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Alan and David McQuiston, Christopher, Brandon and Alison Smith, and Randi and Jake Spencer; and one great-granddaughter, Mckenzie McQuiston.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Armeda Pallone.Arrangements were entrusted to Hooper, Huddleston & Horner, 59 N.
