Floyd Arthur Smith April 1, 1923 _ September 30, 2006 Floyd passed away peacefully at his home in Surrey, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband and family man, predeceased by his wife Josie (nee Verhulst) in 1994. He will be deeply missed by sons Ron (Grace) and Bill, and daughter Linda (Rob); grandchildren Rowan (Jennifer), Tara, Jeff (Erin), Jessica (Chad), Michelle (Brice), Jason, and Frazer; great-grandchildren Victoria, Dustin, and Cameron, as well as countless nieces and nephews. Floyd was born in Tawatinaw, Alberta and was the last remaining sibling of 9 children (Dorothy, Bill, Bob, Peter, Johnny, Conrad, George, Helen) born to Violet and Jerry Lastuka. He was a prospector, miner, fabricator, engineer and a hunter; travelling BC extensively. His passions were his gold lease, and tinkering and inventing in his shop. He would often say the only thing he couldn't fix was a broken heart. Floyd's faith and beliefs guided him through life and kept him strong until the very end. He was a kind and gentle man, renowned for his patience. He believed if there was room in the heart, there was room in the home, and practiced his philosophy by taking in all who needed his help. Floyd befriended virtually all the people he met. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. A Memorial will be held on Tuesday, October 10th, 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, Arbor Chapel, 14660 72 Ave., Surrey.
