.WILLIAMS Mrs. Florence Alma Maher Williams, age 87, fondly known as "Sis," of Milford, beloved wife of the late Charles Evans Hughes Williams, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2007 at Milford Hospital. She was born in New Haven on August 10, 1919 to the late Thomas Francis Maher and Florence Farley Maher. She spent most of her life in Woodmont, where she resided since 1925. She graduated from Milford High School where she was the vice president of the Class of 1937. She graduated from Katharine Gibbs in Boston and then served as secretary of the former Atlantic Saw Mfg. Co., Inc. of New Haven and Milford and was a partner in Milford Homes Realty. She was a member of the Retired Business and Professional Women's Club and a sponsor of Friends of the Milford Library. She was a former member of the Milford Emblem Club and St. Agnes Guild. She loved gardening, reading, Woodmont, friends from Milford High School, her years as a young Navy wife in San Francisco and the West Coast, but above all, her husband and family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity to her beloved family. Florence is survived by her devoted children, son, Thomas Linden Williams and his wife, Susan Hadfield Williams, of Milford; daughter, Patricia Williams Jeffery and her husband, Jonathan Briggs Jeffery, of Elkton, Md.; four loving grandchildren, Thomas James Williams of Milford, Elizabeth Joy Williams of Bridgeport, Joseph Maher Jeffery of West Haven and D'Arcy Williams Jeffery of Elkton, Md.; three cherished great-grandsons, James Patrick Jeffery and Charles Adkison Jeffery of West Haven, and Thomas Myron Williams of Milford; as well as numerous caring nieces and nephews, Thomas Francis Maher, Constance Maher Pascarella, Gail Williams Urban, Richard Williams and Robert Williams. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Francis Maher Jr. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 30, at 10 a.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Milford.
