UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Florence A. (Patch) Cox, R.N., 78, of Uncasville and formerly of South Windsor, beloved wife of M. George Cox Jr., passed away Friday, October 9, 2009, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. She was born April 18, 1931, in Wallingford, Vt., daughter of the late Albert J. and Alice (Jackson) Patch. Florence had been a resident of South Windsor for many years until moving to Uncasville in 2002. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1949 and was a 1952 graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Crestfield Convalescent Home in Manchester and retired as a nursing supervisor. Besides her husband, George, she is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. and Patricia Cox and Lawrence M. and Kimberly Cox, all of South Windsor; her daughter and son-law, Susan C. and Eric Christiano of North Branford; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Albert R. Patch of Andover and Melvin Patch of Enfield; her two sisters, Anna Mae Ogren of Manchester and Helen Haberern of Enfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial in Buckland Cemetery, Manchester, were held privately. There were no calling hours. Holmes Funeral Home, Manchester, has care of the arrangements.
