Funeral for Faye Nell Franks Smith, 85, of Decatur will be Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with Mike Nix and Gary Patton officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 11, 1919, in Lawrence County to Cleveland Franks and Era Steed Franks. She was a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. She is survived by three sons, Neal Smith and his wife, Brenda, Ronnie Smith and his wife, Judy, all of Hartselle, and Steven Smith of Decatur; four daughters, Barbara Holmes and her husband, Gene, of Hartselle, Ann Melson and her husband, Billy, of Danville, Shelby Brazier and her husband, Vince, of Sequatchie, Tenn., and Kim Dobbs and her husband, Greg, of Falkville; two brothers, Hoyt Franks of Ohio and Troy Franks of Hartselle; four sisters, Christine Waldrop of Moulton, Olene Wahlmeier of Augusta, Ga., Merle Lacy of Hartselle and Ruby Truitt of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.The family request memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley or to the American Heart Association.
