Family-Placed ObituaryLEE MARVIN BROWN Lee Marvin Brown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in Naples, Florida. He was loved dearly by his family and all that knew him. Lee was born on February 3, 1922 in Piqua, Ohio, the son of the late Lorin and Eda Brown. He graduated from Piqua Central High School and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942. During WWII he flew 41 low level attack missions in the South Pacific while assigned to the 500th Bomb Squadron of the 345th Bomb Group. After discharge from the service in 1945 he earned a degree in education from Bowling Green State University, after which he was recalled to active duty. He served as an Electronics and Communications Officer in Europe and the Pacific and various assignments in the US. While in the service he earned an engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Major Brown retired from the USAF in 1969 and was employed for the next twenty years as a construction engineer with the South Florida Water Management District in West Palm Beach. Before moving to Naples in 1995 he lived in Tequesta, Florida where he had served two terms on the town council. He was an active amateur radio operator (KD4YQ) and belonged to several local radio groups. He was predeceased by his wife Maureen E. Brown. He is survived by his wife Maxine Craig Brown, a son John L. (Jay) Brown of Woodstock, Georgia, a daughter Leigh A. Brown of Saxapahaw, North Carolina, grandchildren Matthew, Katherine, and Sarah Brown, and several step children. At Lee's request, no memorial service is planned.
