Family-Placed ObituaryHARRY JAMES GRIBBIN Harry James Gribbin, 59, of Lantana, died peacefully in his sleep on February 19, 2010. Born on September 24, 1950, Harry moved to South Florida in 1960, where he spent the remainder of his life. A graduate of both John I. Leonard High School and Florida Atlantic University, Harry was a mainstay in the local banking industry where he developed many friendships. He worked in a number of banking positions over the past 35 years, a majority of his time spent in various senior positions at Barnett Bank, and most recently as a Vice President with Grand Bank and Trust. Harry was a passionate fan of baseball, and he spent a significant portion of his free time volunteering with a variety of local youth baseball organizations. Always willing to lend a hand, he could often be found umpiring and coaching in area baseball leagues. Over the past 15 years he has been deeply involved with both the Santaluces High School and Park Vista High School baseball programs. Known to many as "Uncle Harry," he especially enjoyed announcing local baseball games and acting as score keeper, and his love for both the game and the individual coaches and players could be felt by all. Another one of Harry's passions was fishing. An avid fisherman, he was involved in organizing a number of local fishing tournaments, and he spent many hours on the water relaxing with friends and family. The most important part of Harry's life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband who is survived by Linda, his adoring wife of 40 years. Both a dedicated father and son, he is survived by two sons, Danny and Stephen, daughter-in-law Kimberly, and his mother Anita Jane Burchett. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Betty Molyneux, sisters-in-law Karen Janicki and Jeannine Seider, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23, at the Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Worth. In lieu of flowers, donations in support of the Park Vista baseball program would be appreciated. Donations can be mailed to "Park Vista Baseball," 7900 Jog Road, Lake Worth FL 33467.
