Family-Placed Funeral Notice SAMUEL A. GROVES Died January 7, 2007, age 97. He grew up in Bradford, PA and was a long time resident of Delray Beach, FL after an active career in Boston, MA. A graduate of Andover, Dartmouth, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he was formerly chairman and President of United-Carr, Inc. He had been a Director of the First National Bank of Boston, the Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., the Reed and Barton Silver Co., and the Thompson Steel Co. He was a Trustee of Massachusetts Financial Services Funds for many years. He belonged to the Country Club, Brookline, MA, the Algonquin Club in Boston, Gulfstream Golf Club, the Gulfstream Bath & Tennis Club and the Little Club in Florida. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Pauline Spencer Groves; a daughter, Nancy C. Groves of Boynton Beach, FL; a daughter-in-law, Linda S. Groves; and a granddaughter, Ceaira Groves of Monmouth, IL, and two nephews, George Groves and Nicholas Groves. He was predeceased by son Robert S. Groves. At his request, there will be no services and the family requests that no flowers be sent.
