Family-Placed Funeral Notice RUTH ANDERSON SMITH Passed away peacefully on May 30, 2004.  She was born in Rochester, Kentucky on August 01, 1907,  and graduated from Western Kentucky State Teachers College in Bowling Green, KY in 1929.  Ruth was married to L. Jack Smith for 44 years before his death in 1977.  They lived in Mariana, Ocala, Jacksonville, and West Palm Beach, FL, where Jack coached high school sports for a total of 38 years, and was later inducted into the Florida Coaches Hall of Fame. Ruth has been a longtime member of First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, FL where she made many dear lifelong friends.  She lived her faith and cared for those around her.   She was a loving wife and mother, a faithful friend, and also touched the lives of others as a teacher, a caterer for summer camps, in real estate sales, and in encyclopedia sales. Ruth was the second eldest of six children, all preceding her in death.  She will be lovingly remembered by her three children and their spouses: L. Jack & Connie Smith, Jr. of Palm Beach Gardens, FL,  Gayle & Don Carroll of Dallas, TX, and  Carol & Jim Archer of Dallas, TX, as well as six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who have all held a special place in her heart.  Her sweet spirit will be missed by each of them. Private burial was held on June 5, and a Memorial Service is to be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24 in the chapel at Quattlebaum Funeral Home , 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL.  Friends may visit with family members from 3:00 until service time.
