Family-Placed ObituaryDEWITT CHARLES CRAWFORD Dewitt Charles Crawford age 86 of Crystal River, FL passed away on Wednesday October 28, 2009 at his daughterÌs home in Lake Worth, Florida under the care of his family and Hospice of Palm Beach County. Born February 09, 1923 in Bradford County, FL to Lonnie and Annie Crawford he came to Citrus County in 1952 from Bronson, FL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific from 1943-1946. A 1950 graduate of the University of Florida receiving his degree in Agriculture Education; and he continued his education receiving his MasterÌs Degree in 1962. He taught Agriculture for the Citrus County School system from 1952-1980. He was a volunteer for the Citrus County Fire Dept., active in the Citrus County Historical Society, a member of the Crystal River Lions Club, and was also a Member of the Crystal River United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years there. Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his loving wife Clara in October of 1999 and a step daughter Carolyn M. Eastwood May 2006. He is survived by his son, Charlie Crawford of Lake Worth, FL; and two daughters, Debbie Crawford of Lake Worth, FL and Connie Connors of Inverness, FL; brothers, Anthony Crawford of Brandon, FL and Rudolph Crawford of Crystal River, FL; a sister, Elizabeth C. Pierce of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nephews and extended family and dear friends. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday November 01, 2009 at 3:00 PM from the Bethel Chapel of the Crystal River United Methodist Church with Rev. David Gill officiating. A fish fry will follow the service in his honor for those who wish to attend. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Hospice Chapter of your choice in memory of Dewitt Crawford.
