BROOKS, FRANCES LEONE, 78Ms. Frances L. Brooks 78, passed away Wednesday, April 17th in High Springs, Florida. Frances was born in Jacksonville, Fl on October 17th, 1934. After retiring from a 20+ year career with the Miami Federal Reserve Bank, she moved to North Florida and settled in High Springs. Frances was deeply involved in all areas of her community. As past President and an active member of the Spring Ridge Civic Association she was instrumental in organizing the annual Spring Ridge 4th of July parade as well as a strong supporter of the Spring Ridge Volunteer Fire Dept. Equally at home in the kitchen and outdoors, she was an extraordinary baker who spent countless hours in her kitchen creating a variety of cakes, cookies and pastries that will be missed by all that knew her. Frances was an Alachua County Master Gardner and a renowned expert in native Florida plant life. An avid outdoors enthusiast, she included in her outdoor pursuits kayaking, bird watching and photographing many of Florida's native species. Frances was a true animal lover and shared her life with a variety of dogs and cats through her life. One of her favorite pastimes was quilting and as an expert quilter, she shared her love, skill and knowledge by helping others get their start. With examples of her work displayed in the Suwannee Valley Quilt and Old Time Festival Festival, she was well known in the area. She is survived by her two sons Ralph Jamison Wainwright and Charles Douglas Wainwright, her daughters in-law Loretta and Ileana, and granddaughter Kristina.
