Frances Ayers, 85, of Central Nyack, passed away on October 24, 2006, at home with her family. She was born in Parksville, South Carolina on September 15, 1921, the daughter of Charles F. and Cornelia W. Tompkins. She is survived by two daughters: Peggy and her husband Sidney Buxton of Worcester, MA, and Sandra Miller of Central Nyack, four grandchildren: Sidney, Javas, Neema and Tarik Buxton, three great-grandchildren: Damon, Deryk and Morgan Buxton, her sister Ida Grigsby of Central Nyack, Godchild Barbara Grigsby, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Howard Ayers, and twin daughters, Frances and Linda. She grew up in South Carolina and moved with her family to the Nyack area in 1930. She attended Nyack schools. Frances married Howard Ayers on December 3, 1942. She retired from Lederle Laboratories in 1985. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, from 4 to 7 PM, and a Funeral Service on Saturday, October 28, at 10:30 PM at Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made in her memory to the United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
