Everett Rice Davis, 84, of 103 Fillery Drive, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, after a brief illness.Born on Aug. 5, 1921, in Rushford, N.Y., he was the son of Greydon and Flora Davis. In an evangelistic meeting in 1935, Mr. Davis accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. After graduation from Houghton College in 1945, he married Linda Childs Davis, who survives him. He pastored several churches in New York and Pennsylvania, as well as teaching in the New York State School for the Blind and Christian schools.He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Norman. Surviving besides his wife are three children, Lynette (Mark) Cortazzo of Greenville, Carol (Jim) Waite of Rock Hill, and Timothy (Rebecca) Davis of Greenville; as well as six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Family and friends may gather tonight from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, 311 Century Drive. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 642 S. Suber Road, Greer. Pastor David Whitcomb will officiate. Burial will be in White Cemetery, Rushford, N.Y.-- The Mackey Mortuary, Greenville, S.C.
