Evelyn Schoeffel Carter, 89, of Louisville, died Wednesday at her residence. She was a Life Member of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons, a longtime member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and a longtime volunteer at the King's Daughters and Sons Home in Louisville. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Carter. Survivors include one sister, Connie Thomas of Louisville; two daughters, Connie Carter Becker of St. Augustine, FL, and Karen Carter Borho of Louisville; one son, Jack Carter of Louisville; five grandchildren, Lauren Becker, Sallie Carter, John Carter and Carter Borho, all of Louisville, and Kristen Arends of Cincinnati, OH; and two great-grandchildren, Katherine and Madison Arends of Cincinnati. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 330 N. Hubbards Ln. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Ln. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may go to Kosair Charities or to the charity of one's choice.
