Evelyn S. (Salamon) Daviau, 82, of Chicopee, died on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Birch Manor Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was a retired banner maker for Athletic Emblem and Lettering Co. of Springfield. Evelyn was born on July 26, 1932 in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Julian and Stella (Jamrog) Salamon. Evelyn was a communicant of Holy Name Church at Assumption. She is survived by her husband, Richard Daviau; a son, Edmund Daviau and his wife, Donna of Wilbraham and a daughter, Deborah Lunney and her husband, William of South Hadley; three grandchildren, Ryan and Meghan Halley of Orlando, Joanne Daviau and Duncan Daviau of Wilbraham and two cousins, Theo Roy and Barbara Kennefick. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Daniel J. Salamon and Edmund Salamon and her sister-in-law, Stella Salamon. Evelyn’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church at Assumption at 10 am. Her burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Church at Assumption, 104 Springfield St., Chicopee, MA 01013 or to the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of St. Joseph, 1039 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
