ROCK -->Evelyn Osborne Evans ROCK HILL, SC-- Mrs. Evelyn Lucille Osborne Evans, 89, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Westminster Health Center, Rock Hill. Born in Galax, VA, a daughter of the late Bays and Bertha Cornett Osborne, and married for sixty years to the late Wallace Rockwell Evans Jr., she was a long-time member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Evans attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She was a homemaker, avid golfer and former member of the Catawba Chapter, DAR. She also was a member of The Pendarian Literary Club and Rock Hill Country Club. Surviving is a daughter, Lynda Evans Moore and husband Herbert Bays Moore Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; son Wallace Rockwell Evans III, and wife Nancy Iler Evans of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter Sally Moore Martin and husband Dr. John William Martin of Seneca, SC; grandson, Lehman Rockwell Evans of Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren, Bays McAtee Martin, John Evans Burwell Martin, and Margaret Lucille Martin. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. A private committal service will be held at a later date at St. John's UMC Memorial Garden.
