Evelyn Jones Smith, 81, formerly of 8 Chosen Court, Greer, died March 19, 2001. Born in the Rocky Creek Community of Greenville County, sheSmithwas a daughter of the late James Carl and Mary Elizabeth Cox Jones. Ms. Smith was a retiree of J.B. White's, was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and Pliney School Grange. Surviving are a daughter, Susan S. Dunlap of Greenville; two sons, Kaye F. Smith of Abbeville, and Jack W. Smith of Greenville; five sisters, Ruby Jones, Jessie Black and Katherine Johnson, all of Greenville, Bernice Siniuk of Charleston, and Lucille MacDonald of Maui, Hawaii; a brother, James Carl "Joe" Jones Jr. of Gaffney; grandchildren, Gregory Joe and Cindy DeShields, Robert Tyler and Allison Satterfield and Amy and Tim Shepherd; and seven great-gandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Franklin Smith Jr.;a sister, Frances Kirby;and a special friend, James A. Long. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive,with the Rev. Neil Cochran officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the mortuary.
