Avis de décès de Evelyn-Elizabeth-Brockman Davis

Brockman Davis<br> -->Evelyn Elizabeth Brockman Davis GREER, SC-- Mrs. Evelyn Elizabeth Brockman Davis passed peacefully at 85, on Sunday, February 17, 2008 honoring her wish to spend her final days among family and friends in her Greer home. Mrs. Davis was the daughter of Frank Henry Brockman and Mary Elizabeth "Mamie" Snow Brockman. She was predeceased by her only brother James Henry Brockman and sister-in-law Ruth Pearson Brockman. She was the adored wife of Vernon Kendrick Davis for 67 years who is still of the home. Mrs. Davis was born on September 28, 1922 and was a life-long native of Greer. She attended Reidville High School, worked in the Sewing division at Lyman Mill, and graduated from Waldrop's School of Cosmetology in Greenville. After a sweet courtship, she married Vernon on her 18th birthday on September 28, 1940. She was the owner and operator of Evelyn's Beauty shop in the Pelham community for many years and in Greer for 63 years. She was a loving, generous, respected member of the community and was very devoted to her family, friends, and her home church, Sharon United Methodist. Evelyn Davis was a lover of animals, nature, sewing, an avid Clemson Fan, loved traveling daily to her favorite restaurants in Spartanburg, Anderson, and Clemson, and enjoyed talking to her family, customers, and childhood friends like, Kathleen Wilson, every night on the telephone, while watching her favorite preachers and gospel singers on Channel 16. She maintained an enthusiastic and personal interest in all matters of the members of her family. If there was a trip to be taken, a family event to attend-a wedding, a ballgame, a dance recital, a parade, a special honor-she found a way to always attend and show how proud she was. She is most lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 67 years, Vernon Kendrick Davis and her two loving daughters who cared for her day and night until her passing, Teresa Lynne Davis Allen and husband Thomas Glenn Allen and Melesa LaVerna Davis Shuler and husband Randal Lee Shuler. She is also dearly loved and missed by her grandchildren who called her "Nanama" and "Nana", Jennifer Allen Harrison and husband Jefferson Travis Harrison, Thomas Brockman "Brock" Allen and wife Cheri Allen, Sabrina Leigh Shuler, and Ezekiel Austin "Zeke" Shuler; and great-grandchildren, Karsyn Taylor Harrison, Katelynne Tyler Harrison, Kaden Thomas Harrison, and Anna Presley Allen. Her greatest passion in life was always of family, customers, and dear friends. She will be missed in deeply personal ways by all those whose lives she touched in her special way. Ever the artist of hair, make-up, sewing, and flowers, there is no doubt that she is using her many heavenly tools to make everyone and everything around her beautiful, even now. She is sure to be having spirited conversations with all of those loved ones she has so longed to see again and is embraced in her Lord's warm, loving arms, feeling no pain. The family greatly appreciates the loving care of the nurses of Spartanburg Regional Hospice who made her last months comfortable, meaningful, and filled with happy memories. A visitation will be held to celebrate her life at her home church Sharon United Methodist, Sharon Church Road in Greer, on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary. There will be a graveside service following at 2:00 PM with Reverend Rance Sprayberry officiating. Pallbearers include, Thomas Brockman "Brock" Allen, Jefferson Travis Harrison, Ezekiel Austin "Zeke" Shuler, Ian Thomas Brockman, Christopher Dacus, and Corey Lancaster. The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice or Sharon United Methodist Building Fund in her honor. The family is at the Davis home at 8620 Reidville Road, Greer, SC 29651.
