Jacksonville - Evelyn Davis Lee, of Jacksonville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia. She was born on January 15, 1931 in Haralson County, Georgia the daughter of the late John W. Davis and Ethel Adams Davis. Mrs. Lee was a homemaker and former employee of Southern Bell and a life long member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Buchanan, Georgia. A native of Haralson County, Georgia, Mrs. Lee lived in Winchester, Va. and Anniston, Alabama for most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H. Lee of Carroll County, Ga., several brothers and a sister. She is survived by her daughters, Celeste and John Ricks, of Warner Robins, Ga. and Karen and Randall Gunter, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Matthew Gunter, Natalie Gunter and Elizabeth Gunter, of Jacksonville; brother, Durward Davis, of Buchanan, Ga.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2-3 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted today, February 19, 2011, at 3 p.m. from The Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Ward officiating. John Ricks, Randall Gunter, Matthew Gunter, Jimmy Davis, Jeremy Davis and Joe Davis will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Church Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff and her many caregivers at Houston Medical Center, Three Rivers Home Health Service and Warner Robins Rehabilitation Center.
