AKRON Eva Lou Rayfield Ballard, age 80, of Akron, died July 20, 2008, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Akron Baptist Church with Bro. Bryan Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John A. Ballard, two sisters, Allene Rayfield and Evelyn Seale, and two brothers, Tom Allen Rayfield and Durall Rayfield.Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn Sharon Arrington (Roger) of Akron, Carla Raye Ballard of Akron, and Terri Ballard Lashley (Brent) of Eutaw; her sisters, Mary Wadley and Louise Seale, both of Akron; her brothers, Carl Edward Rayfield of Yazoo City, Miss. and Robert Hall Rayfield (Mary Lou) of Brandon, Miss.; and her grandchildren, Bethany Allene Arrington and Brenna Amanda Lashley.Pallbearers will be her nephews, Charles M. Seale, Edwin Seale, Carl Edward Rayfield, Jr., Robert (Ray) Rayfield, Robert (Bobby) Wadley, and William (Billy) Wadley.Eva Lou Rayfield Ballard was born November 5, 1927, in Hale County to Carl Dawson and Eva Thomas Rayfield. She was the school secretary at Akron Elementary School.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
