Mrs. Eula Mae Smith, 81, of Springfield, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, in her home with family and friends by her side. Most people who knew her simply referred to her as "mother." She was one of the founding members of Springfield Community Church. She finally won her battle with cancer and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. The cancer took her body but couldn't touch her spirit. She kept the faith in God through it all. If anyone needed spiritual healing, Mother was leading the prayer. We were blessed by her love, charm and charisma. She gave so freely, asking nothing in return. If you came to mother's house to pray for her, she would end up praying for you. We would like to extend a special thanks to our pastor, Donnie Jackson, for his friendship, prayers and spiritual guidance throughout it all. She is survived by her children, Andrew (Lamar) Cumbie Jr., Betty (Walker) Phillips and husband, Jimmy, and Randel Louise (Walker) Young and husband, Mark; three grandchildren, Truman "Truby" Beggs, Christopher Rawson and Brittany (Rawson) Nguyen and husband, Thien; two great-grandchildren, Morgan "Hunter" Rawson and Madison Grace Beggs; two sisters, Drucilla Smith and Lavada Atkins; two brothers, Norman Shiver and Johnny Shiver and wife, Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Britt Smith and Alma Shiver; sister, Arsula King; and four brothers, Harbert Smith, Woodrow Smith, Lonnie Smith and Ernest Smith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, November 24, 2010, at Springfield Community Church with the Rev. Donnie Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Callaway Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today before the funeral service at the church. Pallbearers are Joe Taylor, Joey Taylor, Tal Richardson, Terry Moore, Dewayne Capps and Woody Cumbie. Those wishing to extend a word of condolence may do so at www.heritagefhllc.com. One of mother's favorite songs as a little girl that she would sing on her way to church: "Plenty of water, plenty of oil, the best gasoline you can buy, and if you'll let Jesus have a hold of the wheel, He'll take you to Heaven on High!"Heritage Funeral Home247 N.
