Eugene M. Sanborn Carolina Shores Eugene M. Sanborn, 75, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in the home that he built surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 30, 1939 in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Eugene B and Anna C. Halpin Sanborn. Known to his family as beloved "Pop", Mr. Sanborn was a humble and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a talented athlete, sports enthusiast and an avid golfer. Mr. Sanborn is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean; three sons, Eugene, Michael and Christopher; four daughters, Susan Cannizzaro, Linda Colletti, Theresa Malandro and Jean Corbett; brothers, Richard and Robert; 28 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Ferrieri. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, December 13 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the Mass. A memorial Mass and inurnment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Church, Staten Island, NY.
