LOWELL - Ethel M. (Cannon) Carter, 97, a lifelong Lowell resident who was a former deacon at the city's Eliot Church, died Monday, March 24, at Heritage Manor in Lowell. She was the wife of the late George W. Carter.She was born in Lowell on Oct. 31, 1905, a daughter of the late William and Carrie B. (Cochran) Cannon.Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Carter worked as an office manager at Pratt and Forest Lumber Co. in Lowell. In additon to serving as a deacon at the Eliot Church, Mrs. Carter was an active member who also taught Sunday school and had belonged to the Women's Association.Survivors include a daughter, Ruth A. Sheahan and her husband David M. of Pembroke, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Carter of Saco, Maine; also two nieces and a nephew.
