Ethel G. Murphy of Harrison, N.J., entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2014. She was 81. The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave., Harrison, N.J. 07029 at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Cross Church, Harrison. Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9:45 a.m. For information or directions, please visit www.mulliganfuneralhome.org. Born in Newark, N.J., Ethel was a lifelong resident of Harrison. She worked as a file clerk for Worthington Pump, a telegraph operator for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Newark, N.J., and was also a housekeeper for Dr. Siwek. Ethel was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Harrison. Predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Murphy, Ethel is survived by her loving companion, James Chadwick, and her beloved children and their spouses, Thomas (Coleen) and Tammy Blume (Steven). She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica Oldenburg (William), Thomas and Michele Murphy, and Steven and Kyle Blume.; dear great-grandmother of Aimee and Ronald Oldenburg; loving sister of Estelle Pipon and Raymond Scally; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ethel was also predeceased by her parents, John and Mabel Scally (nee Sulling), and her brother, William Scally. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Harrison Cancer League, in care of Mulligan Funeral Home.
