Mrs. Ethel Branum Johnson passed away at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Ala., during the late evening Dec. 27, 2001.Mrs. Johnson was a native of New Loyston Community in Union County, Tenn., and was born on June 10, 1921. She graduated from Halls High School before beginning her work career with TVA in Knoxville, Tenn. She moved to the Muscle Shoals, Ala., area, where she met her husband, Fred Johnson. They settled in Sheffield, Ala., where she lived until her death. She graduated from Florence State University.Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Gertrude Coppock Branum; her brothers, Fred, Earl, and H.C. Branum; her sisters, Orphia Branum Guinn, Bonnie Branum Vaughn and Marion Branum Mariner.She is survived by her husband, Fred E. Johnson of Sheffield, Ala.; her sisters, Johnnie Mae Branum Waldrop of Norris, Tenn., and Maycle Branum Cummings of Green Valley, Ariz.; her brother-in-law, Ned R. Johnson of Galveston, Ind.; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends in Sheffield and Florence, Ala., area.A memorial service will be held at the Grace Episcopal Church in Sheffield at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, with Father Milton Glor officiating.
