Essie Mae Smith QUINCY - Essie Mae Smith, 86, retired farm laborer, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, in Tallahassee, Fla. Services were Sunday. Madry Memorial Funeral Chapel (850-875-2665) handled arrangements. She was a native of Cottondale, Ala., and a resident of Florida over 60 years, the oldest member and usher of Second Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Pallbearers Lodge.Survivors include her children, Robert J. Smith, James Smith (Joann), Queen Mims (Henry), Jacqueline Smith and Delores S. Fields (Elder Ronnie); sisters, Hurley Baker, Della Johnson; brothers, William Smith, James Smith (Lizzie), Richard Smith (Carolyn) and Elder Allen Smith (Tina); special nephew, James L. Byrd (Angel); 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; five godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
