Essie Mae Bell, age 91, of Winder passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. She was retired from Winder Barrow Hospital and attended church at Bethabra Baptist Church in Hoschton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Johnson Bell; two brothers, Gartrell and Eugene Martin; and her sister, Beatrice Johnson. Survivors include: her son, Phillip "Wayne" Bell of Statham; three daughters, Lenis Blackstock of Winder, Janet Fielder of Danielsville and Marie Knight of Toccoa; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 29 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home on Friday, November 30 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Linwood Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Bethabra Baptist church Cemetery in Hoschton. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
