Ernest Howard Roberts, age 84, of Flat Creek Road, Oakwood passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Willow Woods Nursing Home following an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. David Matthews will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Roberts was born on March 30, 1924, in Hall County to the late Otis Roberts and Montine Reed Roberts. He served in the Navy for three years during World War II and then later retired from Chicopee with 44 years of service. Mr. Roberts was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church since childhood. Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nell Roberts of Oakwood; three brothers; two sisters; and a number of nieces and nephews.
