TRENTON - Ernest Ambrose Williams, age 77, passed away August 17, 2011, at Compassionate Care Hospice-St. Francis Medical Center. He was a lifelong Trenton resident.He was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, Edison State College (Bachelor's Degree), and Rider College (Associates of Arts). He was employed by C.V. Hill Refrigeration Company (1956-1963) and The Trenton Police Department (1963-1999, 2010-2011). Mr. Williams was an U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1955-1957. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church, the Retired Chiefs of Police Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.Son of the late Berline and Booker Williams, brother of the late Berline Stephens, Leon Williams, Vincent Williams, Muriel Mitchell, and Margaret Showell; Mr. Williams is survived by a sister Thelma Napoleon-Smith (Marcellus); brother Arnold Williams (Augusta); his children Yvette Goolsby (Rev. James), Pamela Williams-Owens, Ernest M. Williams, Greer Bowman, Cheryl Griffith (Edwin), and Kris Marie Tucker; and a host of other relatives and friends.Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011, at Galilee Baptist Church 440 Martin Luther King Blvd. Trenton, N.J.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Galilee Baptist Church. Calling hours will be 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Rev. Dr. John Harris, pastor, will officiate. Interment Greenwood Cemetery Hamilton, N.J. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
