Ernest A. Mauro,66, of Marlborough died Saturday (Apr.17,2010) at home after being stricken ill. He leaves his sister Carolyn A. Bloem and her husband John of Marlborough. Also leaves two nephews Eric M. Bloem of Washington, D.C. and Craig J. Bloem of Boston. He was born in Marlborough son of the late Ernest L. and Albina E. (Raiano) Mauro and has lived in Marlborough his whole life. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School. After graduating from school he worked for many years for the Massachusetts Bricklayers and Masons Local 51 in Framingham, then he worked in the Marlborough School System for over 20 years in the Maintenance Department until his retirement in 2006 and for the past couple of years he worked in the Maintenance Dept. at the Advanced Math and Science Academy of Marlborough. He was the host of the Italian Hour for the former radio Station WSRO in Marlborough for many years and he also hosted the Oldies Music on the Marlboro Cable Channel. He enjoyed flying his remote controlled airplanes. Funeral will be held Thursday (Apr.22,2010) at 9 A.M. from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St.,Marlborough with a Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, Southboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday 4 to 8 A.M. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to either Mass General Hospital Cancer Center Fund, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114 or to the VNA Care Network Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
