GURSKI, Erma 2009-03-30 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Erma Mae Dean Gurski announce her passing on March 28, 2009 at Pinewood Court in Thunder Bay, with her daughter by her side. Erma was born to Eli and Katherine Johnson on May 10, 1931 in Barick, Ontario. Moving with her family to Fort Frances in 1946. Erma will be laid to rest in Fort Frances on Thursday, April 2 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church Scott St. Erma was united in marriage to Nick Gurski on November 29 1952 in Fort Frances Ont. where they raised their three children and successfully ran Russell‘s Moving and Storage for over 40 years. Erma was a very hard worker, she took pride in keeping her house clean and was always ready to “whiten” your laundry and assist in stain removal. She was a long-time member of the Zion Lutheran Church on Scott St. where she was a member of the Alter Guild for over 40 years. Erma had her own sense of humor and marched to the beat of her own drum to know her was to love her. With failing health Erma moved to Thunder Bay in 2005 to be closer to her Thunder Bay family. Although she liked Thunder Bay, she loved Fort Frances as this was her home and she spoke often and fondly of one day returning to her home on Williams Ave. where it all began for her and Nick. Erma was predeceased by her husband Nick in 2001 who will be waiting for her in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (John) Monsma and their children Crystal (Armando) Chiara and Nico Simeoni, Jason (Renee) Monsma, Les (Tina) Matthew, Lauren, Adriane and Maggie Gurski, Mike (Sharon) Scott and Nick Gurski. Erma was predeceased by her brother‘s Lorne and Jimmy Johnson, Harry Walden and sister and brother-in-law Art and Annie Legarrie, sister-in-law Yvonne Johnson. She is survived by her sister Bonnie (Harvey) Cooper, brothers Ralph and Ed (Mary), Ken (Marie) and Rudy Johnson, sister-in-laws Lucille Johnson and Pat Walden. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In closing the family would like to thank Pinewood Court Long-Term Care Facility in Thunder Bay for welcoming Erma to what would be her final home. To all the staff in particular her home area of Blue Heron for the care and love that you showed Erma. She spoke highly of you and appreciated everything that you did for her many of you became a part of her family. In lieu of flowers please make in memorial donations to the Recreation Dept. of Pinewood Court, 2625 East Walsh St., Thunder Bay, Ont., P7E 2E5 or Zion Lutheran Church, 1105 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont. Rest in peace Mom we will miss you.
