Erma Jean Harrelson Wilson passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Jay Hospital after a short, courageous battle with lung cancer. Her two daughters were at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Wilson; an infant daughter, Tamrya Lynn Wilson; a stillborn son; and her beloved mother, Doris Marie Grant Harrelson. She is survived by her two daughters, Debra Elaine Wilson of Jay, Fla., and Diana Jean (Dale) Chavers of Flomaton, Ala.; three grandchildren, Angela Lynn Wilson, Christopher Dale Chavers and Daniel Edward Chavers; and one great-grandson, Aiden Chavers. She is also survived by her father, Ermond; and stepmother, Olene Harrelson of Blackman, Fla.; four sisters, Rose Marie Miller of Waverly, N.Y., Molly (Roger) Hughes of Niceville, Fla., Jackie (Roy) Oglesby of Blackman, and Barbara Weeks of Blackman; one stepsister, Robin (Chuck) La rouche, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.Erma Jean grew up in the Fort Walton Beach area surrounded by a large immediate and extended family consisting of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She led a robust, active life of swimming, boating, horseback riding from her childhood home on Garniers' Bayou in Ocean City.She and her husband moved their family to Jay 40+ years ago. There, she was active in the community. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and going to the Saturday night stock car races.Erma Jean was a devoted caregiver for her husband, Bobby, as his health declined. After his death, she joined the work force at Walmart in Brewton, Ala., where she was in retail sales for 12 years.We will always miss her, love her and hold her memory in our hearts.A memorial service was held at Jay Funeral Home in Jay, Fla., on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012.
